The challenge
Frimley Health and Care was selected to be in the first wave of Integrated Care Systems, which the NHS Long Term Plan identifies as being central to delivering improved population health. In practice, this means bringing together the chief execs of 20+ organisations to shape a collective strategy for delivering improved health and care to 800,000 residents. Whilst relationships were developing and progress had been made, it was identified that greater trust and alignment would be needed to commit to the complex, long-term work of transforming a system.
The programme
CoCreate was selected to support the development of the ICS board (at that point the shadow ACB Board). We began with a series of 1:1 interviews with board members to better understand strengths and challenges. We also deployed a sophisticated Social Network Analysis tool, giving further data on the network and barriers to collaboration.
We used the results to inform the design of a two-day off-site, tackling critical conversations and building trust. We integrated our Adaptive Coaching model to help the group work through critical issues and develop broader system awareness. The results were overwhelmingly positive, and have led to us continuing to support the Board’s development throughout 2018.
Thank you so much for guiding us through our time as a group of System Leaders. Everyone thought the event was a great success, and we were all impressed with the way you corralled us into a good place. The feedback has been very positive. I hope the time out will set us up well to creatively establish an even better NHS.
