The challenge
The national long-term plan for health and care commits the NHS to be ‘digital first’ in ten years’ time, with a particular emphasis on digitally-enabled care which supports people to stay well, allows patients to manage their own health and allows patients to stay at home. Whilst technology is a key enabler in delivering this, so too is the workforce, developing a cadre of leaders across the system with digital mindsets and digital skillsets.
The programme
CoCreate was asked by the Frimley Health and Care system to design a brand new six-month programme – Wavelength – to develop the collaborative leadership for digital transformation. Launched in September 2018, Wavelength deliberately brings together clinical, operational and IT staff to break down barriers and create a shared language around digital.
The programme consisted of leadership masterclasses, insight sessions into the application of latest technologies such as Artificial Intelligence in health and care, inspirational speakers and practical workshops, designed to help participants make progress on their own challenges relating to digital.
We also set up visits to organisations in other sectors including the Met Police, Bank of England, Microsoft and Trainline, giving Wavelengthers an opportunity to learn from how other organisations are driving digital transformation.
